Hello, all. I am trying to install the Symantec Encryption Management Server (formerly known as PGP universal server) on my VMware. But when i finish the installation i can't acces my web interface (see step 7, https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH197003.html). It's probably because i have not done step 3 and 4 correctly, but i doesn't matter what values i enter there it just won't work. Could anybody help me? For example, does the IP address you enter at step 3 need to be static or is is just enough that it is not in use currently?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ouassim95,

What do you get on screen you get after installing, does it reads a IP or Host name, and you trying that address and unable to access PGP Server?

Please verify if the VM was created as per the required best practice, most of the times that causes issues.

    Dear Ouassim95,

Shahidhussain is correct in that the best practice article which he linked to NEEDS to be followed in order for our product to work well on VMWare.

The most common cause of this issue is the VMWare network card configuration for the VM.

The solution : Do not use VMXNET3. Please use the E1000 adapter or the flexible network adapter.

For more details, please see the following tech article, Symantec Encryption Management Server (previously PGP Universal Server 3.x) text-based installer does not ask for network configuration details - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH192173

Please let me know if this suggestion resolves the issue, or if you require additional assistance or clarification. I'll be happy to help.

    Best Regards,

    Phil
