  • 1.  Problem installing SEP 11.0, Failed to start Symantec Management Client

    IMy operating system is Vista 64-bit.  I tried installing SEP 11.0 after un-installing SAV 10.2.  While installing SEP, I got the message "Error 2318. File does not exist: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\COH_Mon.sys".  I continued the installation.  After installing I opened SEP and got asked to start the Symantec Management Client service.  After clicking 'Yes', I got the message " Failed to start the Symantec Management Client application.  Error code returned: 0x80070102".  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing worked.

    I then tried to reinstall SAV 10.2, but now getting a message "An error occured while loading savrt32.dll" when trying to start SAV 10.2.  Just trying to get one of these to work so that I can have the protection I need.

    Hi,

    It seems that the files of the old version are not getting uninstalled completely,

    There are two steps you can try

    1. Run Cleanwipe and then install the SEP Client

    To download the utility, open the following web page in a browser:
    https://fileshare.symantec.com
    Log in with the following information:




    2. Manually uninstall the old version of SAV and then install SEP Client

    Thanks Warrior6945.  I did the manual uninstall of SAV 10.2. I tried the manual uninstall of SEP 11.0 given on this website:

    My computer didn't like this method of manual uninstall.  My computer wouldn't restart in normal mode.  I had to restart in Safe Mode and do a system restore to a previous time. 

    I now reinstalled SEP 11.0 and while installing I got the message "Error 2318. File does not exist: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\COH_Mon.sys".  I continued the installation and everything seems to be working fine.
