Problem with login in Symnatec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition - Management Console

  • 1.  Problem with login in Symnatec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition - Management Console

    Posted May 18, 2011 02:51 AM

    Hello,

I have a problem by a customer. I have install the Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition in June 2010 (Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition 3.0) --> Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 11.

For a month there is the following problem.

I start the management console, enter the admin name and the password, I can see it open for 1 second the management console. After 1 second I get logged out automatically and find myself back at the login screen.

I restart the services and the server. The problem persists. Does anyone know a solution?

    Hello,

    1) Have you edited your host file?

Open your host file from C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Have you added your server name and IP address?

if so then change it to local host  like this  127.0.0.1 localhost

    2) Try These

    a.Open Internet Explorer

    b. In the url type : http://localhost:8014

If you get a login screen, then you can try to login from there and let us know if that works.

Also, I have seen that in SEP 12 SBS, a lot of information is available in tomcat\logs\upgrade.log

    3) Make sure all Symantec Folders and its sub directories have Full Control. The same is required for the following accounts:

    • Administrators
    • Users
    • SYSTEM

Try running the SEP support tool on this server. Post back here any errors that are reported.

Sorry, by the second login over http://localhost:8014, I can log in with the username and password. After the sucessful login, I can see the Management Console in the Internet Explorer, after 2 seconds, automatic log out - and I see the login page from http://localhost:8014.

I have open a symantec support call, but the employee can not help me.

Hi YoWoo, Please post the scm-server-x.log back here for us to analyze.

You can find it in the SymantecProtectionCenter\tomcat\logs folder.

    Hello,

    Few check to be Performed:

    1) Try logging onto the manager by using the IP address of the server, or its DNS hostname.

    • Verify that the HOSTS file has the correct entries for localhost.

Example of a HOSTS file that would produce the login loop:

    10.0.61.149 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost

The first line of the HOSTS file defines localhost as a IP address other than 127.0.0.1. Removing this entry resolves the login loop issue. The HOSTS file should look like this once you are done with it.

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    2) Make sure DNS is configured correctly.

    Hope That Resolves the Issue!!!
