  • 1.  problem with Proactive Threat Protection

Hello! I use WinXp Pro and when i open my computer i'm receiving the following error: "Proactive Threat Protection has an error code 11. description: Whitelist failure. Proactive Threat Scan known application load error." Proactive Threat shows as OFF and "waiting for update" I click on FIX or Live Update  it works but it finds nothing and the error persists. The definition file has loaded. I have the version 11. Also I read the Symantec's base article that talks about this issue but it doesn't help. my company has only one computer.

    How I can fix it? It's a Symantec's problem or a virus?

    Thanks a lot!

     Hi Nagia,

I would start by going into Add / Remove programs, find SEP, click Modify and then uncheck the Proactive threat component.

This will effectively uninstall the PTP component.
Then do the same thing to reinstall it and then check if you keep getting the same problem or if that fixed it.

    Let us know.

    Regards,

Jeremy's solution worked for me under 64-bit Windows 7, too.  Thanks, Symantec.  You're a great team.
