problem with SEP 12.1.3 64 bits on migrated windows 8

  • 1.  problem with SEP 12.1.3 64 bits on migrated windows 8

    I want to install SEP on a Windows 8 x64 but it rollbacks with the attached log.

    I have run the cleanwipe utility but again installation rollbacks.

    I have attached the sep_inst.log to this forum.

    Would you please kindly help to resolve the issue?

    sep_inst.log is missing, kindly attach it.

    showing the same symptoms in the log. Follow these steps as fo now till a fix is applied.

     

    Until a solution is provided, you can work around this problem using one of the following:

    • Disable Windows Defender before installing the SEP client
    • Remove KB2781197 before installing the SEP client

    Did you reboot after the patch was uninstalled|? 

    in the registry delete all the registry keys below Symantec node(HKLM/software/symantec)

    disble windows defender and try to install the client as unmanaged.

    Dont worry we will fix it , Can you post the SIS.log found under

    %AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\%currentversion%.105\Data\Install\logs

    • Contains SIS_INST.log (Symantec Installer Log)
    • Contains RORU.log (uninstall log of previous product)
    • ETUPAPI.LOG
      • Important: This log used to be located in C:\Windows\ but it is now located here: C:\Windows\INF

    I JUST FOUND SIS_INST.LOG under the folder :

    %AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\%currentversion%.105\Data\Install\logs

    Delete these keys(After Wow64 and after Software key) and run the install

    HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\{291C0B12-A5E0-4507-BEB2-47F0282BA1B0}

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion

    thank you very match Rafeeq, the problem is gone and the new SEP 12.1.3 RU3 is now installed without problem and connected to the server manager.

    I only know a couple, your knowledge of the way SEP works in the registry is advanced far more than what I know.

    Good news is I've been saving your comments for future reference and troubleshooting :)
