Hi,

I did a setup capture for one of my applications. I have to change the directory structure and I have to create shortcuts pointing to new batch file. But after the installation the shortcuts are not populating on desktop & start menu/Programs/-----

I tried creating the shortcuts in advertising & command line mode but no luck.
I have set the shortcut(points to batch file) &  working directory correct.....
any idea how to get it done through Tables or any other best practices to get the things done will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

look at your Shortcut Table

look at your Shortcut Table for clues.  Pay attention to the Directory_ & Component_ columns.  Are the shortcuts getting created at all?  You might want to also generate a log file for clues as well.

Re create shortcuts.

I would suggest that you change the directory structure and then delete the existing shortcuts. Save your wsi and then recreate the shortcuts.

Hope this helps.

Yups

Agree with Piyush
Delete all the shortcuts
create new shortcuts
keep eye on directory and components involved

You can try merging all the components in single feature before creating shortcuts.
because I guess the problem is in TARGET column of shortcut table.

As its a setup capture creating single feature wont harm your MSI
