Problem to shut down the application without restart the Server
Hello,
i’ m using PcAnywhere 12.1 with my PC ( Remote ) with Windows 7 Operating System and another Server with Windows XP SP2 ( Host).I’ m using my telephone Modem connect directly to another telephone Modem . Both Modem are same: USB, Brand Prolink Model 1456.
I have not problems with the connection, but sometime , into the Host there is a sort of crash of PcAnywhere application: the Calling still to be in Waiting and I can’t disconnect that. Even if I remove the USB Modem on the Host Server , the application still to be frozen . I have tried with task Manager to ‘’ End the Process’’ ; but even in this case the application is frozen.
To restart PcAnywhere , I must restart the Server. This is a not good solution , because the Host Server cannot to be restarted continuously .
Do you have any idea to avoid to Restart the Server?
Do you know if the problem could be caused by USB Modem?

Have you restarted the pcanywhere host service on the host?
Have you restarted the pcanywhere host service on the host rather than rebooting? Keep in mind that usb modems are software modems and not supported by pcanywhere. But this may not have any thing to do with your issue. Also keep in mind that pcAnywhere 12.1 isn't compatible with windows 7. You need to use pcAnywhere 12.5 with at least sp2 build 463 installed to have support for win 7.
Even after you fix these issue by getting a physical modem with a dedicated UARTs on them and upgrade to pcAnywhere 12.5 sp2 there may still be an issue. I would test stoping the service and then restarting the host service as a test.
Good luck.
