  • 1.  Problem with uninstalling a SEP client

    Hello,

I successfully deployed SEP 11.06 on severals computers. But I wanted to remove SEP on one of my clients computers. So I uninstall manually SEP on this computer and actually I have a message that indicates that for security, the settings are managed by a system administrator. I can't manage my settings so how can I do to uninstall completely and properly SEP ?

Logoff and login as Local Administrator then try to uninstall from Add/Remove programs

to install or remove a program you needto be logged in as Administrator.
Best way to remove ( SEP ) any program is by Add/Remove programs..if only it fails then you can try Manual Removal Procedure.

That's what I did. I used "Add/Remove programs" with the Administrator account. When I clic on "Uninstall", a message indicated that software is used at this moment (of course, it is the  antivirus server) and I choose to continue.

When I go to "Windows Firewall" => "Advanced settings" (on the left), I can see the rules who allow software to connect on the computer. And I can see that there is rules for "Live Update 3.0 Servers", "Live Update Admin", "Symantec AntiVirus Servers" etc... whereas SEP is uninstalled. I can't delete them.
Maybe the problem comes from here ?

Symantec AntiVirus Servers and SEP together should not install in a same computer....

If you are seeing windows firewall having some rules you can remove them.Mostly somebody may be created it manually.Go to add/remove programs and see any symantec product is currently present. If not there it is got removed....

The OS is Windows 7 64bits. I see the message in a dialog box that opens. There are 2 buttons, 1 to continue the uninstallation, another to stop the uninstallation.

Symantec AntiVirus and SEP are not installed in the same computer, I don't know why it is written Symantec AntiVirus.

How to manually uninstall the Symantec Endpoint Protection client from Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 R2 64-bit

If you are not able to remove that firewall rules ,it may be due to some policy restrictions in the windows.Check your group policy...

Go to services.msc and make sure
Liveupdate and Symantec services are off.
    Reboot the machine..
    Then try removing SEP

It is not related to SEP.When SEP is managing the settings message will be like firewall is manged by SEP....
