    Second step :

I choose upgrade group with new packages, then i select the new package and the group i want to upgrade. Wizzard say that it's good and that the SEP client (product) will be upgrade.

But nothing on the clients of the group i selected, the version ikeep the same.

    Hi,

Which is the original version installed on the clients and which one is the new version you are trying to upgrade to.

It might be possibl;e that the version you are using is a much older version in which auto-upgrade din't use to work
Have you upgraded the manager to the latst version and are apply a MP or a MR.
for eg if you are trying to upgrade from mr3 to mr4mp2 first upgrade to mr4 then only upgrade to mr4mp2

    hy,

the original version is MR4 MP1 and i want to upgrade to mr4 MP2, i upgraded the manager before to upgrade the client. Because a symantec employee told me that it is not possible for example to have SEP Manager's in MR4 MP1 version and upgrade clients to MR4 MP2. so i upgraded the manager but no changes.

Like i say, the console said that it's good and that client will be updated but nothing on the client , version still keep the same. :(

You have to create a new package, using the MR4 Mp2, then deploy again.

We're running MR4 MP1 and have done the same thing as Julien yesterday = added the new MP2 package to the SEPM servers, added in the console the MP2 package to a test group with a few clients and tried to push it out.

The clients alerts these test users that there will be an update - but nothing more happens except for one of the 5 clients which is reported in the console to be updated.
Nothing more happens for the other clients - at leas not in the console's status.
They are online and checking for policy updates.

At 9.30 yesterday, we tried setting a sceduled update between 9-11 and that the rollout would be done during 1 day.
    Still no effect yesterday afternoon.
So I'm wondering whether we're doing something wrong or what do we need to do?

The clients haven't been upgraded, reports the mp1 when my colleague just checked in one of the test PCs.
Another of the 5 test machines were upgraded during the morning - and we didn't do any manual tricks with that one...

We've followed another thread and have recently rebooted the manager, and triggered a liveupdate - which was suggested should trigger the clients to install the new package.
(It also seem like the replication  with 2 remote managers stopped working when we upgraded the primary site to mp2, but I guess this is by design so we're upgrading those as well)

-The reason for upgrading to MP2 is that we've measured a performance drop in the FW of ~20% and before filing a support case we'd like to upgrade to MP2 to see if its fixed.

This doesn't feel that stable, but as long as it's known how things work and that we eventually will get the mp2 out on all endpoints, we can manage. I'm now beginning to understand why some say that for each new release some new problem appears...
Having a global organization with 8000 endpoints and no central AD or software distribution solution (yet), this update mechanism is critical.

Please check the clients System Log, there should be an activity on that log, btw, does the icon of the system tray has a greendot?

Concluded that there's 2 places in the IF to add new packages -where the first one we added was not displayed.
When we resolved this, and reconciled this issue  - the upgrades went smoooth....
    BUT
Still the response time was LOUSY depending on the IPS.
Pinging swhoed that the first request took annother 40-50 ms in delay-because the IDP was slow in response.
Resulting in ¨25 % performance drop.

If you want to limit this - disable the IPS OR set any-to-any rules....

As discussed with a certified Symantec Tainer,,,
    ;-)
