problem with vray - error 0xe0009b61

Created: 13 Dec 2013 • Updated: 19 Dec 2013 | 6 comments

Hi,

I have a be2012 vray installed over a windows 2003 server.

I have to backup a vm on a phisical host but there are some problems. I have an esxi host with something like 20 or 30 replicated virtual machines. Some of them was been successfully copied but other was not becase backupexec says that I have not access rights to the virtual disks. But the problem I am interested in is that I have the following error when it start to copy the machine:

Final error: 0xe0009b61 - The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again.

It's really strange becase I have root access to the esxi.. also when I define the vm to backup I can browse all the vms on the phisical host..

The vm is a linux host so that I have tryed to insert the root account on the backup exec credentials, but without success.. any clue ?

The symantec expert said when esx's are in 'HA mode' it's adviced make backup by the vsphere client and not directly by  the esx. Anyway the backup failed with the adviced mode because the file to copy is not a working machine then backup exec give me some error when try to make snapshot.

So I cannot copy simple files from the esx ??

and It's true that when the vm are in ha it's better make copies through the vsphere client and not directly through the esx ????

...it's always advisable to target the Virtual Center server as the VMs are guaranteed to be selected. If you target an ESX host and the VM is VMotion'd to the peer host, then backups can fail as that VM is considered as being not available or removed.

Thanks!
