I'm using a trial version of Symantec Mobile Security 7.2 and Symantec Managment Platform 7.5

Installation seems to be succesfull on a win 2008 x64 r2 server, separat sql 2008 server

    While following the Symantec_Mobile_Security_7.2.1_Quick-startGuide_IE.pdf document.

I cannot find the following option:

To configure Symantec Mobile Management to use GCM

1 On the Symantec Management Console, go to Home > Mobile Management

    > Settings > Mobile Management Server Settings and click the GCM tab.

2 Enter the Project ID and Server key you generated in the previous procedure.

    3 Click Save changes.

4 On the Mobile Security server go to Start>Administrative Tools>Services

and restart the Mobile Security Service Agent.

Mobile Management is now configured to send GCM data to Android mobile

    devices.

    Hi mangahuisman,

("Thumbs up" to James007 for referenincing those articles!)

Definitely do use GCM- it will speed the communications from the server to the managed Androids.  Here's an additional article that will help:

Configuring Symantec Mobile Security 7.2 to use Google Cloud Messaging (GCM)
    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH191945

Please ensure that you have applied all hot fixes to that SMP (server)- there is one important fix related to GCM in hot fix 3.

Update to Android Configuration Page Changes GCM API Key
    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH208785

Please do update this thread with news of your progress.  And, if you should need any additional information about this product, please do continue to use this Connect forum.  There are many experts here willing to help.  &: )

    With thanks and best regards,

    Mick

I agree with Mick, those are great articles and kudos to James for sharing them...

You may add GCM information for the Mobile Security Soltuion in the following location on the Altiris Console:

Home > Mobile Security > Android Configuration

Once that is done you will need to configure the android policies in Home > Mobile Security > Device Management to utilize GCM for Actions.
