This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I have been struggling with few problems concerning to Backup Exec 2010 R3 and deduplication. Jobs that I have uses client-side deduplication, and they now stuck on queued-state as soon as they get ~50GB. When I cancel them, job logs says:

Media mount failed.

User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation.

There is also lots of scratch media in the dedup folder. Also I can't restore now cause some restore jobs stays on queued-state from the start.

Any help?

My target device is NetApp FAS2240-2

Still jobs stay on queue, they won't even backup that ~50GB...

...what size are the B2D files and what are your OPP/Append settings? Has this ever worked or is it a new issue?

Default size for deduplication, 50GB I think. Media management is on Overwrite. Has worked before. First time I got these errors was when I installed latest hot fixes.

I can't even restore data, because jobs stay in queued. Just found out that restarting services helped for a while with restore.

Correct, based on AIT-2 tapes IIRC.  Wierd if you ask me.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

...uninstall the fixes you installed and see if this helps. If it does, then start installing them one-by-one to check which 1 caused the issue.

Thanks!

Craig,

as you're referring to my problem:

I've got the same impression, that one of the last patches/fiexes caused the actual problems.

Before that the backups were running fine with full speed for several weeks/months.

I tried to uninstall, but there is few updates that can't be uninstalled... I think one of them is causing problems?

Should I try repairing installation?

Few weeks back I even formatted dedup folder and did it from scratch, but the problem started after few Full backups.

...give it a bash. Also consider repairing the BEDB using BEutility.exe.

Thanks!

Changed jobs to media server dedup, it helped.
