  • 1.  Problems deploying SEP-Client to Win7 64Bit

    Posted Apr 06, 2010 05:59 AM

    Hello everybody,

we just installed an SEP-Server with version 11.0.5002.333.
Now we want to deploy the Clients to Win7 64Bit machines. But that doesn't work. The problem is, that I can't dissable the Windows firewall at all of these notebooks. Is there any solution to install the SEP-Client on all of these machines without being at the face.

Another problem on 32Bit machines is, that we nearly allways have to change the registry key "PendingFileRenameOperations". Might the solution be to enforce restart of the client PC after installing the SEP-Client?

    Regards,
    Florian Wolf

    1. Make sure you are deploying 64 bit packages.
    2. Turn off UAC on WIn7 computer before deploying SEP.

If you are not able to push the pacakge then , you can share the package and the users can download it  and they can run locally on their computer.

As far as PendingFileRenameOperations , it happens beacuse of the operating system.
Neverthless , this check has been removed from the next release RU6. Once it is released in the future you can download that and test that.

    Thank you for your answers.

Of course I try to deploy 64Bit Clients to 64Bit OS.

When I don't turn off UAC the user will get a box asking if the changes are ok, or?

When will RU6 be released? May I get it with LiveUpdate?

yes you wil get it via liveupdate.
create a silent install package not interactive; then push the package; users will not get the prompt

UAC just drop the remote installation..it is advised to disable UAC while doing remote installations..However if it is still failing and you have less number of WIn7 64 bit clients then you can copy the package to them locally install liveupdate and install the package it will go fine..
