Problems with EV2007 SP and new Exchange mailbox store
Hello,
Due to storage limitations, a client added a new mailbox store on their Exchange 2003 server, and moved several mailboxes to the new store. However, new mailboxes added to this store are not automatically enabled, even though the users are members of a Windows group that is added as a target in the Default Provisioning Group, and users that were already archived and subsequently moved to the new store are no longer archived.
Running the provisioning task in report mode lists the following, no matter if new mailboxes are added or not:
Provisioning Group Summary:
EVEnabled:
Mailboxes added: 0
Mailboxes updated: 69
Mailboxes relinked: 0
Mailboxes ignored because already processed: 0
Provisioning targets that returned no mailboxes: 0
Users without a mailbox: 0
New mailboxes ignored because of existing entries in the Enterprise Vault database: 0
Journal mailboxes found: 0
Users with mailboxes outside the current domain: 0
Users whose mailboxes were not synchronized: 0
Errors: 0
This leads me to believe that something has gotten stuck in the provisioning process?
Alternately, could it be a licensing issue? I've reviewed the "Installed licenses" folder, but the files within have no mention of the number of licenses purchased, and the client cannot find his license agreement or certificate?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Licensing issues would be logged in the Eventlog.
This scenario should work...
Have you synchronized the Exchange task?
Have you done a "run now"?
Have you run the provisioning task in "normal mode"?

Hi MichelZ, and thank you for your quick reply.
I expect you mean synchronization of the Exchange archiving task, which I have done and I have also run both the archiving and provisioning task in normal mode by "run now".
However, you might be on to something concerning synchronization, because the event log only registers the sync start event and not completion. If I remember correctly, a sync pass shouldn't take all that long and it should also write completion to the event log?
Further update:
The error seems to lie within the synchronization of mailboxes.
If I go to properties for the archiving task and browse for a system mailbox, all mailboxes (including the ones on the new store) are listed, so the EV server can apparently talk to the Exchange server in some shape or form. However, if I go to the "Synchronize" tab for the archiving task and click "Selected mailboxes", none of the new or moved mailboxes appear in the list.
Try DTracing the Provisioning Task.
