Problems Importing Computers Using ImportComputers55.xls

    We are trying to do a batch import for some new computers with a CSV file. Whenever I try to save the ImportComputers55.xls file as CSV then import the computers I get an error saying "The computer name, , matches an existing computer name. Do you want to continue?" The field for computer name is not blank.

    We are only populating the fields, Name, MAC Address1, and Computer Name. Is this part of the problem?

    Did you verify that all names from your list does not appear already in the Deployment Server?

    Yes I did. I also looked in the dbo.computer table. The computers aren't there. I looked by Mac Address too.

    I also tried an odd ball name that's would have never been used and it still says the computer name is still in use. After editing the XLS, I save as a .CSV file. Here's an example of the XLS.

    Hello,

    I tried to save your file to a csv file but when I imported it it gave me a different error:
    Error Importing Computer Number 13, In the field "Incorrect number of fields in the computer import file"

    I was able to import until Bill11. I will try to add one more to see...

    Hello,

    Adding Bill12 was okay but adding Bill13 failed...
    same error as before...

    there are some KB like:
    KB23637
    KB35437

    There are interresting as one is my error and the other your error... it seems it is known issues with Excel files... there are issues with Excel formatting when you reach a certain number of rows...

    I see we have different DS versions. I just upgraded to 6.9 SP1 355, (per support for another issue... that had nothing to do with the problem we were having.)

    Maybe there's a bug...

    I used the KB23637 first workaround and was able to import the 22 machines...

    Good catch I have 6.9.176 in real so I updated my profile , thanks for the reminder...

    These are the exact problems we are having. I looked and looked before I posted the question.

    I guess I found the bug... ME!! ;o)
