    Hello,

I was trying to install SEP 12.1.4 on Windows 2012 R2. During the installation process it suddenly rolls back. I tried to reboot and reinstall it, but got the same behavior.

    I attached SEP_INST.log.

Can you please advice how to solve this issue ?

    regards,

    Alex

When I opened regestry I found that String Value 'AppData' has been set already to "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming". So that does not help.

    Have you cleanwipe your system?

    Try it

Silent and Interactive installation type is rolling back

    found in the log

    ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() script execution failed.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() reset script failure event.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() is returning an error (so close to the end!)
CustomAction ShowServiceProgress returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

    Can you also post SIS_INST.log

What logs do I need to gather in order to troubleshoot a failed SEP 12.1 client installation?

    Yes, Cleanwipe did not help.

Removing regestry items mentioned in the article did not help as well.

Seems to be failing at trying to load the virus defs:

[FinalizeContent] UseLatestPackage( "VirusDefs", "NAVCORP_70" ) failed with HRESULT 0x80004005.

Can you try installing the unmanaged client from the download ISO?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

Check this recent thread talks more about troubleshooting if SEP client is rolling back.

Thank you for your answers !

I managed to install unmanaged client and then assign it to appropriate server.

Hope this will not happen again.

    Best regards,

    Alex
