This issue has been solved. See solution.

hi guys,

i have SEPM and SQL Server 2008 on seperate Servers....
on SQL server 2008 i've created for SEPM seperate instance (named SEPM5)....

i've installed Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager successfully

but i cant continue installation in Management Server Configuration Wizard, because there's thowed a message "Failed to connect to the database".

Also in "specify the database parameters to use in order to create a new Microsoft SQL Server database" window i have entered following parameters:

database server: LAB7\SEPM5
SQL server port: 1433
Database nme: SymantecDB
Authentication: Windows Authentication
user: STAT\Administrator (domain admin)
password: ******

SQL client folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Bin
Database data folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SEPM5\MSSQL\DATA

both SEPM and SQL Server 2008 are installed on Windows Server 2008
Firewalls are turned off on both servers.
Name Pipes and  TCP/IP are enabled on SQL Server Configuration Manager

any idea?

Navigate to  C:\Program

Navigate to  C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\logs\install_log.err  and see if you have any errors there or paste the file here

Failed to connect to the database

This thread shows "solved" but no real resolution listed. I had the same issue initially listed above. I checked the log file "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\logs\install_log.err " and discovered that the password I had used contained an invalid character. Uninstalled (repair would not allow me to re-enter password because I couldn't also log into the management console for the same reason), reinstalled, this time using a password without punctuation and was successful in fully installing the Symantec Protection Center.

Install.log.err gives the

Install.log.err gives the reason for failure.
In your situation you just had to run Management Server Configuration wizard from Start- all programs -Symantec endpoint prtection manager -management server configuration wizard.

and it would have brought you back at the almost same prompt.
