Problems to login to SEPM

  • 1.  Problems to login to SEPM

    Posted May 28, 2013 05:00 AM

    Hi,

I have searched the internet for a solution to my problem.

I recently acquired the position as local IT guy on my company, which is great. However the documentation was a bit,, bad to be kind.

Now I try to login into SEPM manager but the account or Password is not working, when i click "Forgot your Password" (its v.12.x.) and type in username and domain, I don´t receive any e-mail. Problem there is I don´t know which account SEPM was installed with.

Is there any other way around? Is it possible to check or change which account SEPM was installed with, so I can receive the temporary password mail?

    All help is really appreciated.!

    Best Regards

    Kristian

You're best bet here may be a call support as they can assist with resetting the password for the admin account.

In 12.1 you will find the email address here (Windows 2003)

    C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc in the mailConfig.properties file

open it in a notepad. fill in the appropriate email address .

then click on forgot password. you will get the password link. Please try and let me know if you face any issue.

    Hello,

What version of SEP 12.1 are you running?

In case, you are running any version early to version SEP 12.1.1101.401you could use the steps below:

    To reset the administrator password

    1. Open Windows Explorer on the computer that runs Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
    2. Locate the Drive:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools folder.
    3. Double-click resetpass.bat. The user name and password are reset to admin.
    4. Log on to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager using admin for both the user name and the password, and change the password.

In case, you are running any version later to version SEP 12.1.1101.401you could use the steps below:

Try to find out recipient email address with the help of following steps:

Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc

Open mailConfig.properties file with the help of Notepad.

    You will find following entry:

    "adminMailReciptants=abc@symantec.com"

In this example abc@symantec.com is the recipient email address.

Check the inbox of specified email address.

If there is not any specific email address then need to reset the password using resetpass.bat file from either of the Earlier version of SEP setup (if you have any)

You could also log a case with Support to receive resetpass.bat file.

    OR

Phone numbers to contact Tech Support:-

    • United Kingdom: +44 (0) 870 606 6000

    Hope that helps!!

Yes, it seems to be duplicate thread:

I think it's by mistake however next time we can ask the user to delete the duplicate thread to avoid confusions.

However here is the possible solution:

Try to find out recipient email address with the help of following steps.

Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc

Open mailConfig.properties file with the help of Notepad.

    You will find following entry

    "adminMailReciptants=abc@symantec.com"

In this example abc@symantec.com is the recipient email address.

Check the inbox of specified email address. Can refer this video as well.

If there is not any specific email address then need to reset the password using resetpass.bat file.

You can log a case with Support to receive resetpass.bat file.

    Thank You Mithun,

The trick with changing the recipient did the trick!

I thank everyone for taking his or hers time to solve this!  You are great!

    Kind Regards

    Hi Kristian,

I am not convinced. You can not change the recipient email address without logging in SEPM.

In the mailConfig.properties file you can only find intended recipient email address, if you made changes in notepad file it won't work.

Could you please help me to understand which steps helped you to resolved the issue.

    HI Chetan,

Sorry for my last post, I mistyped.

I did not "change" the file, should have been "read" .

I could see that it was configured with another e-mail receiver. That perticular admin user was inactive. I activated it and changed the PW of the account, and then i found the e-mail in outlook.

    Thanks again.
