  • 1.  Problems monitoring DVD/CDROM on Windows 7 64-bit

I can't find anything on the documentation or the release notes in regards to monitoring the DVD/CDROM portion of my Windows 7 64-bit machines.  Under the Agent Configuration when I change the Ignore to Monitor under CD/DVD my Windows 7 64-bit machines hang after login.
Example:  Login to my Windows 7 64-bit machine and pass the login credentials... at this point the computer sits and waits and waits and waits with no response... If I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and launch Task Manager I don't see processes hung or consuming a large amount of CPU.  On my Windows XP machines I do not notice the same issue.

So in order for my Windows 7 machines to not have any problems I need to disable monitoring of the DVD/CDROM, which means I can write confidential data to disks.

Running DLP 10.5.1 with the updated agent installed on my machines and all updates applied to my Enforce and Endpoint servers

I can't understand something from your post, the agent works fine with the CD/DVD monitoring and it hangs when you ignore them?
Did it happen on more than one computer?
I suppose that you have a burning software of some kind on your machine, what is it?
Do you use a virtual drive of some kind?

I can see 2 things that could possibly cause that issue:
    1. Agent/system is defective - try reinstalling the agent, also try to remove the agent and see if the problem persists.
    2. maybe the agent hangs because it is trying to check the installed drives/software and it get's stuck somewhere.
I have not encountered this issue before.
let's try to resolve it and understand where is the problem..

    Kind Regards,

All your Windows 7 64bit encounter this issue?

We tested the DLP 10.5 on Windows 7 64bit, works finely. You can try to install a DLP 10.5

Running 10.5.1 with the current updated Endpoint agent.  This is not a virtual drive, or virtual computer, it is a physical Windows 7 64-bit HP laptop.  On the two Windows 7 64-bit machines if I enable the monitoring of the CD/DVD drive the system hangs.  I login and then nothing happens after that, explorer doesn't seem to pop up correctly.  Have just the mouse and a blank background.  We have waited about 30 minutes with no movement. I can get to task manager through CTRL + ALT + DEL but don't see any unsual disk or processor activity.
My Windows XP 32-bit machines do not exhibit this problem at all.

Working on getting a Windows 7 32-bit machine to test

    Further digging:

Tested this on a Windows 7 32-bit Machine (no issues on a Windows XP machine), no burning software enabled.

In the Agent Monitoring section of my Endpoint Server, there is an action to Ignore CD/DVD.  When this is set no matter what data I copy off to DVD/CD my policies are ignored which is a big problem.  As soon as I change this Ignore to Monitor and my agents update thier policy I am unable to use my Windows 7 machines after login.

Hit CTLR+ALT+DEL and provide my login credentials.  After a succsesful login explorer seems to hang.  Even if i launch Task Manager and then hit run and type explorer.exe seems to hang as well.
