  • 1.  "product is not properly configured"

I just updated all the components of my CMS install, including "Altiris Agent for UNIX, Linux and Mac SP3", and now that particular piece is displaying the message (in the SIM) "product is not properly configured" "This product is installed but not properly configured. You may need to manually configure or install this product again to resolve the problem"
    ?

    Joseph,

I've never seen such an error, but may be related to some "unexpected event" (reboot, service down, SQL timeout) during this package instalation.
I'd repair the packages. There is a great chance it comes back to life.

    Good luck !

    Hi Joseph,
I believe the SP3 release notes indicate that this "Product is not properly configured" message may appear, but it is erroneous and there is in fact nothing wrong with the installation.  I think I saw the same error on a few solutions on my test NS7 box and running a repair of the "broken" component fixed them. The following has some information on this:

    https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=49836&p=1

You can probably attempt repair of that component using the command line similar to the one in that KB:

    >"C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\AeXConfig.exe" /configure "C:\Program Files\Altiris\UNIX Agent\UNIXAgent.config"

The message goes away after logging out of the server

If you are opening the log viewer in Altiirs server during the solution installation in SIM, you will see error message if the solution is not well-installed.

According to my experience, sometime the error is related to SQL tempdb, if this is the case, just repair the solution inside SIM will NOT recover the solution . Because SIM repair just repair the file/registry of the solution, but since during the solution installation, installer will trigger the aexconfig tools to create table column base on solution config file.

    Same as Kyle, running C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\AeXConfig.exe" /configure "C:\Program Files\Altiris\UNIX Agent\UNIXAgent.config" can ask the installer to write the table/column.

    Regards,

    Wallace
