Product suggestions
We are using Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange with the Premium AntiSpam addon. I'd like to make two suggestions for the product which ought to be really easy to introduce:
(1) instead of "hiding" the date/time of the last update of Premium AntiSpam on the Monitors, Server Status page, it would be very helpful if this information was displayed on the Home tab towards the top left section where the information about virus definitions is displayed
(2) if either (a) a virus definitions update; or (b) a Premium AntiSpam definitions update fails, then the administrator ought to have an option to be notified by email of the update failure. A checkbox somewhere in the admin screens to "Notify administrator if updates fail" should be more than adequate. This information also ought to be displayed prominently on the Home tab of the management console I think.
Thanks in advance for your consideration of this request.

Hi Frosty,
I'll pass your suggestions along to our developers, both are good suggestions.
I do know that SMSMSE will notify administrators when liveupdate explicitly fails (i.e. an error code is returned) but will not notify if there is simply no update available. It would be nice for these options to be configurable.
As far as spam definition updates are concerned, you'll be pleased to know that we've discovered a problem with ruleset downloads, and it's being fixed in our next release (6.5) so this should happen significantly less frequently. From a notification standpoint, I can see how this could be helpful, but it's likely a feature we would turn off by default, as the methods for determining if a spam definition update has "failed" are a bit murkier than the case of virus definition updates. Combine this with the fact that spam definitions update every 5-10 minutes vs. once per day with antivirus updates, and we could essentially start spamming an admin with notifications. It is always good to include more options so that our customers can decide what they want, so I'll definitely pass both suggestions along.
Thanks for your input!
