Protection Engine for Network Attached Storage

  • 1.  Protection Engine supports large files?

    Hi for all!

    I have a customer who uses a NetApp Storage FAS 2040 as a file repository. Need an antivirus solution for this Storage.

     

    The special files that are accessed by users is its size that averages between 2-4 GB.
    Given as Protection Engine works, it is recommended for this environment?

    What type of files are these large 2-4gb files and why do you suspect that they are infected? At this time Protection Engine can scan files up to 2,000,000,000 bytes. It can scan container files zip, rar and tar up to 35gb but the files inside it all have to be under 2 billion bytes.

    Keep in mind large files will take a long time to scan as they will need to copied to the SPE then Scaned. The files may not be able to be scanned before a time limit is reached on the filer or the SPE it self.

    They WORD and AVI files.
    What worries me is the delay that users would suffer in the process of analysis of SPE. There are some recommended settings?
