On a Windows Servers 2008 R2 SP1, the protectionutilsurrogate.exe *32 is causing a high cpu (between 75-90%). The server supports one particular function (mdm) and is otherwise clear. The SEP Client Version is 11.0.6300.803. I have found several articles where SEP 11 MP3 fixed issues with this process before, however no new articles/discussion about this particular version. Are there any possible culprits that are known? Or Any advice to determine a root cause?
Does this happen at all times or certain times?
is this a Terminal server?

It has remained constant for ~12 hours straight now. We had a CPU alert on this machine one other time this week.
What roles/services does the server provide?
Proxy for email gateway to LN Traveler
Rafeeq, I would rather not disable the smcgui and lose all the functionalities listed in that article. Also, I should mention, the task managers (showing tasks from all users) does not have multiple protectionutilsurrogate.exe running, only one.
Are you able to upgrade to the latest 11.x version of RU7 MP4?
Otherwise, I would have to suggest a support call. They will have you turn on some advanced logging
