This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have a question, when I import PST files to Enterprise Vault I will occasionally see "Items not eligible for archiving because of PST Migration Policy". Is the any way to identify which items were not imported?

---------------------------------------------------------------
PST: Y:\PST\User - Mail.pst  -->  Archive: LastName, FirstName

 Items archived: 39072 (of 39215)
 Items failed archiving: 0
 Items not eligible for archiving because of PST Migration Policy setting: 143

Hi,

In the PST Migration policy, you can select what item you want to import. You can check the Message Classes in the PST migration policy > Message Classes tab. In there, you can see what item is eligible for archiving.

I hope this helps.

Also, if you have multiple policies, you can verify which one is applied to the mailbox. Just go to the VAC and expand Enterprise Vault > Directory > Site > Targets and do right click over Exchange. Then, click on "Display Policies Assigned to Mailboxes..."

If you change the policy, you need to synchronize the mailbox (using the archiving task) to apply the changes.

You can add the PST (same PST which you used for migration) in outlook, it will show you the items those are not migrated.

Items those are migrated successfully would not be available in PST but folder struture would be there.

Most probably the message class is not added in directory/policy or these items are already shorcut (user might have moved from mailbox to PST).

As is said above the 'remaining' PST file will have the items in it.. unless you chose to create shortcuts in the mailbox, in which case the items will be copied to the mailbox from the PST.
