Hi-

Below is my Environment and my Issue.

i Have a EV 8.0 and have a Default Mailbox Archival Policy set to archive at 30 days and retention for 6 Months, I did a Client Driven PST Migration for few users with a New Retention Policy of permenent and by creating shortcuts in a to a folder  under the root Folder.

The Mails gets migrated with the Retention Policy  of permenent and the folder i specified gets created in the users Mailbox . but the issue is when the schedule archival and sync job runs it updates the shortcuts that were created by the PST Migration to 6 Months retention policy (Default Policy )

do i need to create the Folder in the Root before PST Migration using EVPM and set my desired policy????

can i change the retention polcy of my mails back to permenent which are now 6 months????

If this is occurring I would

If this is occurring I would recommend you log a case with support. How are you checking this and know retention is changing?

You can uncheck the option to

What I would suggest is the following.

1. Stop PST migrations for the moment.

2. For the retention categories that have been changed already run an EVPM script and set the Retention Category on the folder back to what it should be.

3. Uncheck the option to update the Retention Category from the Mailbox Policy, Moved Items tab.

4. Start your PST migrations again.

To try

This was discussed just recently in Engineering Support.

Hopefully it's something which will be "nicer" in the future, but for now, you can stop EV "overwriting" the specific retention categories you assigned during PST imports by editing your policy and on the Moved Items tab untick the box which says :

Include Items with Retention Category selected by the user or set by a custom filter.

If you do that, then shortcut processing won't overwrite the ret cats you used with the migration.

Hope that helps,
