try to repair client add/remove program as per this articles

Proactive Threat Protection shows disabled and does not update definitions after install

actually i am a using standalone Machine.

open add/remove programs

select sep

select modify

select ptp and uninstall that

reboot

follow the same step and install ptp. reboot, that should fix it

Either you can remove the service as per above mention by Rafeeq or if this client is getting the defintion from SEPM server then you can try as per below attach download document.

Did you follow the steps I mentioned earlier? 

the latest version is 12.1.4 , uninstall and do a fresh install of 12.14 it will fix the issue.
