i have the HPCM client manager 6.2 installed and pushed out but i'm having issues with having it automatically pulling the softpaqs down from HP ftp site. i get an error that it failed to reach the site, but when i browse to that same site i can get there just fine.

i have set the configuration setting in the altirs console the same as it is in IE, and it still won't go.

any ideas

thanks

RE: pulling down softpaqs

Hi Reffox707,

In four years of using it, I've never had any joy getting the automated pull of the softpaqs working in HPCM. In fact I've given up and resorted to pulling them down manually. For v7 they don't have the automated facility at all, so I don't think it's a situation that is likely to improve.

If you get any further I would LOVE to see the solution.

Regards,

David.

HPCM 7 and automated softpaq pull

HP Client Manager 7.0 does have the facility to Download HP softpaqs.  It is the same facilty as was present in 6.2 in that HPCM relies on HP's Instant Support to identify the needed Softpaqs.  The root cause of the issue with 6.2 involved the use of proxy servers which was not handled well under 6.2.  Version 7.0 of HPCM does a better job.

The new HPCM Portal Page in 7.0 is a great reason to upgrade as it provides a one stop administration experience for HPCM.

Please search for 'HP Client Manager 7.0' for videos posted on Connect.  Look for the video icon.

Thanks,
Anil
