Thanks for reply. Got confused as I am new to Netbackup. Few Question More
1:-what is the engine here?
2:- does built in dedupe require any additional hardware or software? I belive it is for Disk based backup and can be later archived to tape?
3:- does built in dudupe for small oraganization?
1. 'the engine' is the dedupe software
2, As per above extract from FAQ: ' there is no separate install; dedupe is built into NetBackup 7'. This means no separate software. You will need dedupe license key, As far as hardware is concerned - you need a media server with enough resources that supports dedupe and a big enough disk attached to your media server,
Please see requirements in 7.0 Dedupe Guide:

thanks for the replying :) How much data can be duduped via inbulit dedupe. I beleive 64 petabytes can be duduped via puredisk. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
Hi Belse
The time you would like to protect the data in is also important(12hours to do 4TB of Backups or whatever). Whatever the requirement is, it will also play a part in the resources and infrastructure required to protect your data in the required time.
The max capacities are listed in the Dedupe Guide for the different NBU versions - you might as well have a look yourself:
