I'm new to the whole Deployment Server scene, but I had a question as to whether something is possible or not.

We have a Deployment Server on our network and we have a remote site that we want to be able to push images to using the DS on at our main office. Is it possible to store the images we will need at the remote site so that when we image a machine it won't have to pull the file across the network? We'd still want images on the DS machine so that we could image machines at the main office as well. I've searched the forums quite a bit and one way that looks like it would work is to setup a remote pxe server at the remote site to serve the jobs off a server at the remote site. Would this actually work? Is there a way to have the images at the remote site and just setup jobs that would link to those images (ie In the Distribute Disk Image task, set the image path to \\remoteserver\images\image.exe) (our DS server will be able to talk to the remtoe site) instead of the images at the main office. Any links to documents with any information on this would be great.

Thanks for any help or information.

Simple answer yes you are correct. You could bring up a PXE server at your remote site and create a share that could house the images in question. Jobs can be set to image from that share. Remember to add the drive\share in your WinPE enviornment as well as in your Altiris Deployment Server Configuration. There are ways to use PXE redirect, but it a little more complicated to set up. We have three remote sides and we have the same setup. Basically the agent commands will go over your WAN link as well as when adding to the domain (if you dont have a DC at the remote site). Other then that the imaging would be "local" to that site.
