  • 1.  pushing out 32bit and 64 bit versions

    Hi,

I am upgrading from version 12.1.5 to 12.1.6. I have already succesfully upgraded the SEPM. I now need to upgrade the clients. I have a container with a mix of 32bit and 64bit clients. I took a 64bit client out and put it in a test container and pushed out the 32bit version using the auto update feature. The 32bit version installed on the 64bit machine. Is there an issue with having 32bit software on 64bit machines? Also is there something else I needed to do to make sure that the 64bit machine rejected the 32bit package?

    Thanks in advance!

You cannot install 32 bit on  64 bit OS and vice versa,

You dont need to separate the clinets, just add both 32/64 bit package to the group, they will take the once which is applicable :)

    Hi Rafeeq,

Thanks for your reply. However I was able to push out a 32 bit client to a 64 bit machine. The only thing was that I only pushed out a 32 bit version to that container so maybe if I push both versions out the clients will take the appropriate one. Also the client is communicating fine so I guess it doesn't matter which version they have?

If you add both versions, the clients will select the correct one according to their OS architecture.

Just for reference 32 bit won't install on 64 bit so I'm not sure how you're seeing that. Do remember that some components of SEP are 32 bit so this is normal if you're seeing specific files.
