pushing SEP install causes network connectivity loss and application crash

Hi,

We are in the process of pushing out SEP to clients, around 300 XP PC's.

I am using the Push Wizard from the SEPM server; i am pushing out a silent install package. The SEP install is causing network connectivity loss and crashing of users documents that are open via the network. Clearly this is not suitable - has anyone else encoutered this?

thanks.

If you are installing the

If you are installing the firewall/NTP, I think this is expected behaviour as the install makes changes to the network adaptor.

Clwoody, Hopefully you are

Clwoody,

Hopefully you are deploying the latest verison SEP 11 MR4 MP2?

Also bjohn is correct that installing NTP will impact network applications becuase the driver needs to be installed into the TCP/IP stack.

Info

Greetings clwoody,

This is expected behavior as the TCP/IP stack is being restarted so that the Teefer2 mini port can be put into place. If this is an issue I would recommend scheduling the install during hours that won't cause a problem or do not install the Network Threat Protection component.

Hi clwoody, Yes we

Hi clwoody,
Yes we experienced this problem because it caused problems with Lotus Notes in our environment, we ended up installing it when the users where logged off which which extended our deployment schedule. We used SMS to deploy SEP 11 as it gave us control over this logged in user condition. Also be aware upgrades also have the same problem i.e. MR3 to MR4 drops network conectivity.

Good luck

Thanks to all your replies....

Thanks for replies on this question - I fond this rather dissapointing though. I am installing the Network Threat protection component, so as some of you point out it's restarting the TCP/IP stack.

I have SEP integrated into Altiris NS so i may look to schedule the install that way.

Thanks.
