QNAP NAS as Storage device for BE2012

Created: 25 Oct 2013 | 2 comments
Hi,

Win Server 2008 R2 x64
Backup Exec 2012 - Version 14.0 Rev 1798
QNAP TS 439 Pro; 3.8.4; member of the ms-domain, win-acl enabled

A share "qBedata" was created on the NAS (r/w: local administrators and domain\domain-admins)
Access to qBEdata from the Win-Server works fine (til now)

Creating a BE Storage (name: QNAP; Share: \\qnap\qBEdata) fails.
ErrMsg: User has no read/write rights on remote server ?!?

BE is running with domain\admin
In the Connection Log I can see, that BE created a file "qBEdata\Folder.cfg", so BE could write to the share.

Weird thing:
After trying to create the BE Storage qBEdata isn't accessible any more (from Win-Server).

Any idea?

Thanks

Hello,

You should add the server through the IP address not the share.

Make sure the Backup Exec account is added on the server and give it full permissions.

Thank you for reply.

What do you exactly mean by "add the server through IP..:"

BE asks for a name and a UNC-Path.

The UNC is "\\qnap\qBEdata"

Ok, I can try to use "\\192.xxx.xxx.xxx\qBEdata" as UNC but "qnap" is registered in DNS and it seem to work because BE created a file "Folder.cfg" on "qBEdata".

BE is using the domain\admin, so it should have all needed rights. On the NAS-Share all domain-admins habe r/w-rights.
