We are in a process of implementing the same, but there are few queries mentioned below which needs to be clarified

    1. Can we Integrate the same with Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager ( Version is SEP 12.1 )

    IF yes then

    2. What would be hardware specifications need if installed in the same hardware were SEPM is installed

    3. IF not then what would be the hardware specifications for the different one assuming 150 nodes.

    4. Can one scan engine cater to 6 different location and what would be the load on the bandwidth

    5. How does the update works and does the Scan engine take the update from local SEP client ?

Let me know how can we take this forward

    Regards

    You cannot integrate with SEPM.

SEPM and Protection Engine for NAS are two completely different products and should be treated as such.

You can find the spec requirements along with other information here:

    https://www.symantec.com/protection-engine-network-attached-storage

I would NOT recommend using one engine for 6 different locations, especially if they're all remote from one another. This would cause major performance issues.

The updates come down via LiveUpdate. They will not take updates from the SEP client.

Typically each NAS will need at least one own scan engine if not more. It is not recommened to have a scan engine geographically distant from a NAS/client as that will impact the speed of which the files can be retreived to be scanned and slow client access to files while they wiat for the scan engine to scan. Bandwidth would be purely based on the files the NAS requests to be scanned if the NAS request several gigs of files a day then there will be several gigs of bandwidth used by the scan engine to scan those files.
