Question about AClient.inp file

drumgod1's picture

Is there a way to use a hostname for the server instead of IP address? Anybody have a solution? We are going to be changing the IP addresses of a few deployment servers (but still keeping the server names), and we are looking for a solution to set new image installs (we run the AClient installer with the .inp file in a script) and change the current client computers with the least amount of effort.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

We have created an MSI that is installed to domain computers using Active Directory to update the IP Address when we change the IP address of our deployment server.

What did you include in your MSI? We've figured out that we can do a regedit to change the IP address in the registry then script a restart to the AClient service, but I was wondering if it was possible to use a hostname (name of the server) instead of the IP address...especially in the AClient.inp. Can you provide me with more details of what you did, williama?

Thanks,

Mike
