Question about OS distribution software

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello all,

In the near future our company has to migrate to Win7 our Win8.
Right now we are still running our clients on WinXP.

On the moment we are using GSS (Ghost solution Suite) with WDS to distribute our clients.
I would like to know if there is a new Symantec tool (Ghost / Altiris) to help us with this migration.

Thanks,

LEVD.

If you are running Ghost 11.5.1.2266 then that remains the latest available.  There may be some additional tweaks available to those who still hold a maintenance agreement for Ghost, in order to image Win 8 better, but there is no real prospect of any updated Ghost tool anytime soon.

If you are using WDS, you may wish to explore the tools in the Microsoft WAIK as the ImageX tool does the compression in place of Ghost.

just to chime in, for Windows 8, its the WADK, instead of WAIK (why cant they stop renaming it!).  Also, 8.1 has a newer version of the WADK then Win8, and Microsoft even calls the WinPE in 8.1 PE5.0

Just goes to show how badly wrong they got the Win 8 release....
