when SEP does a scan and finds a hostname on the network that is already in its database, will it update the Operating System field in the database with the OS found during the most recent scan?

Lets say Windows XP upgraded to Windows 7.

Yes, that should be updated at some point. The other thing to note is if you're doing an OS upgrade, Symantec recommends uninstalling SEP forst, doing the OS upgrade, re-installing SEP.

If this is done, it will be reflected accordingly in the SEPM.

    Hi,

I don't think it will update because of schedule scan. But yes, as brian said at some time it should be updated into the databse. Probably after client regisration process/log forwarding.
