    Hello!

    We have a small business networks with total 20 workstations . They have 1 computer running Windows XP Professional SP3 which acts like a server . The workstations are a combination of XP Home edition and XP Professional edition.

    Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business edition involved.
    Symantec Endpoint protection 12 client protection can be installed with no problem on all computers , am I right ?
    What about the "server" XP Professional and Symantec Management Console ... As far as I know I should install IIS . I will do it using the Windows XP Pro CD . Except from installing IIS do I need to configure it ? Do I have to do something else ?

    Thanks!

    No need for IIS with SEP 12, it uses Apache for web server. As for running your server on XP, remember the OS only allows 10 concurrent connections. This may cause issues with your remaining 10 systems when updating content.

    Cycletech , do you mean that with SEP 12 and WinXP Pro , I don't have to do anything else but just install the Management Console . No need to pre-install anything ?

    I don't understand this : "As for running your server on XP, remember the OS only allows 10 concurrent connections. This may cause issues with your remaining 10 systems when updating content"

    This network has been running fine for more than 2 years now  with ESET Business products . What do you mean remaining 10 systems ? It is 20 computers in total (1 server XP Pro , 19 workstations).Do you think the product cannot work or the network will be killed by SEP's connections after installation ?

    Yes you can install it without any problems.

    -> in XP you can have only one website running at  a time; just install IIS , install Management console it will configure the necessary virtual directories;

    Hi ! The computer runs no IIS at this time . But does it needs Apache or IIS , or what , I am confused right now ... What is your opinion about the potential issue with the connections that was mentioned .

    If something goes wrong , all these 20 machines can run Unmanaged because we manage the computers remotely via different applications . If the XP computers - the server goes problems , can we buy the licence and run them ALL unmanaged without installing the Symantec Management console.

     What are the new features in Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0 ?
                      1. Uses Apache as the web server instead of IIS

    Apache installs when you install the SPC.

    XP will only allow 10 computers to connect, so the remaining systems will not connect until one of the existing connections is terminated.
