Hi there

why can it be, that my NBU 5.0 MP7 say under host properties->clients by my exchange client : "ping failed on host IP-Adress" while i can ping my exchange from backup serverand i can ping my backup server from exchange. Information store can be backuped but the mailboxes were backuped till 2-3 GB and then aborted with failure 41.
Thats is, what i cant understand. Information store will be backuped, but at the mailboxes he says network connection timed out.

Name resolution is usually behind situation where you can ping from command line, but the GUI says ping problems.  Duplicate names in DNS perhaps?

If you're getting status 41 from MS Exchange mailbox backups, try increasing the CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT on the media server.  The default is 300 seconds, but most "database options" (e.g. NetBackup MS Exchange client), should be set to 15 minutes (i.e. 90 seconds).  Keep increasing by 300 second increments.  I have seen a figure of 7200 seconds, but I'm currently working on a better value for my site.  I'm back yo 900 seconds, but I still get a few status 41 from the larger mailboxes.  I'm moving to 1200 seconds soon.

you can disable that ping test from running. I don't remember offhand where it is done but it is selectable somewhere in the GUI.
