    All..

An increasing number of laptops are coming into our place with 4K drives (Lenovo comes with Hitachi HGST drives, for example).

When I'm doing a restore of an image using RDeploy, the drive is misaligned.

    My PE environment is 3.1.

Is there a command line utility I can use which will realign the drives?

Or is there an updated version of RDeploy which supports these drives? (say the one that perhaps came with SP6??)

I really don't want to have to create a new image specifically for these, as presumably that'd mean I'd be in a situation where I need to maintain 2 images (one 4k, and the other 512). Especially since we have 32 schools with different images.

I don't particularly want to have to build these from scratch (even though I have a DS job that'll do it), as some of the installs take upwards of 5 hours to do courtesy of some fairly hefty packages like AutoCAD, as opposed to 45 minutes to deploy via RDeploy.

I know that the various hardware companies have partition alignment tools, but they're all GUI based and (I believe??) need to be run from within Windows itself.

I surely can't be alone with this issue?

    Can anyone provide some insight?

    Gerard

First, stop using RDeploy.  It is deprecated.  The only fully supported imaging tool is Ghost.  RDeploy hasn't been worked on in years now that Altiris merged with Symantec and decided to move forward with Ghost. It should therefore be no real surprise that it doesn't handle newer things - like 4K file formats and such.

Now, if you use Ghost and you are STILL having that problem, well, talk to us.  :D
