Rdeploy / Pointsec / BartPe Woes
My current situation:
We have DS 6.9 and Pointsec 6.3 installed throughout our environment. To image one of our encrypted machines first we have to decrypt the machine and then follow that up with an image job once that is completed. I just figure there has to be an easier way because the decrypt process usually takes 2-3 hours and then another 30-45 minutes for the image to upload. It's also possible to slave the drive to a desktop with Pointsec installed, for one off's that's fine, but when you have 30+ laptops that need imaging it becomes a little more challenging.
So after doing some research:
I found that Pointsec has a driver that you can inject into a BartPe image and actually see the encrypted data. I've got that part to work, I can boot and can see my encrypted data and map network drives, so that's definitely progress in the right direction.
The problem:
Now that I have everything working rdeploy doesn't want to work. If I use rdeploy.exe I get through the whole process until I get to the point where I name the image fine, it then states 'the disk was not found' and I can't go any further. If I use Windows rdeploy I get past picking my drive and naming it, it looks like it begins to image and then errors out with 'the disk operation failed'. I've also tried the rdeployt.exe with the same amount of success.
Any thoughts or suggestions as to what may be causing this issue? I'm know it has something to do with Pointsec being installed because my boot disk works fine without encryption. Maybe an update or setting / profile change? Thanks in advance...
You could try using
You could try using rdeploy/rdeployt with the -raw switch. The rdeploy/rdeployt command line options can be found in the DS Reference gude here: www.altiris.com/Support/Documentation.aspx.

-raw switch
That didn't seem to help, I still get the same error.
It's like it can't access the disk, but in the Windows rdeploy it identifies and selects the correct c: drive, so it knows its there.
Could it be a Mass Storage
Could it be a Mass Storage Driver issue?

Possibly, but I wouldn't think so
I can see my data within the explorer window. I can copy files to and from the C: drive.
It's just rdeploy that doesn't work. I haven't tried ghost yet though.
You could also try using the
You could also try using the -d and -p switches to specify the drive and partition just in case rdeploy can't figure out which ones to use.

Is Pointsec installed outside
Is Pointsec installed outside your image? Couldn't you use use wipe.exe to write 0's to the drive before your image it? It would seem to me that the pointsec driver would need to be built into your image as well as BartPE to work. Writing 0's may be a somehwat faster alternative. Also you might be able to take a blank NTFS formatted .img and lay that down 100% over the drive just prior to imaging. You may need to reset the MBR prior to image as well.
