  • 1.  Re-enabling Download Insight

    We’re using Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU1 MR1, and the clients are controlled using policies on our Management server. The clients are allowed to disable SEP for three minutes using the context menu of the yellow shield in the System tray. After the three minutes have passed, File System Auto-Protect, Network Intrusion Protection and Proactive Threat Protection are all automatically enabled again, but Download Insight is still disabled. How do I make it turn on automatically using policies?

    Try locking the option for the Download Insight setting.

    What OS is this happening on? How many clients are experiencing the issue?

    All clients I’ve checked so far are experiencing this issue. The clients are running on Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1, and there’s no difference if the client is using 12.1 RU1 or 12.1 RU1 MP1.

    The management server is version 12.1 RU1 MP1 and is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

    There’s no problem enabling Download Insight manually using the Fix button after the rest of the features are enabled, but I would of course prefer if it was enabled automatically.

    One interesting thing is that if I enable SEP manually using the shield’s context menu before SEP is policy enabled automatically after three minutes, Download Insight is also enabled and works perfectly.

    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am not having any luck finding a solution for this. You might consider engaging Symantec support for this issue.
