This issue has been solved. See solution.

hi,

is there any way to create a restricted account in BE2012. what i mean is an account that has read-only rights, that is, no rights to change the backup policies or execute a restore.

as far as i could see in the admin guide, there is no such thing.

there are multiple users that have access to the backup server, but they shouldn't have the same rights on the BE console.

maybe one of you knows a workaround?

thanks,

Jana

Hi Jana,

No way to do this...check the Ideas section as I think this has already been added, and if not, add it in. You're sure to get lots of votes around this.

There is no role-based security around BE at all. You can consider the BE Remote Console though...I wrote an article on this with BE 2010 R3 and it works well in the environment I worked in.

Thanks!
