Ready; no idle devices are available

I am working with a Windows SBS 2003 server that has Symantec Backup Exec 11d installed. There are 4 or 5 external USB hard drives that are used for backups. Now we cannot get backups to run. BE keeps saying ready; no idld devices are available. It doesn't make any difference which drive is connected. I have searched the forum and tried some of the recommendations. For example, I tried to inventory the backup folder, and then I restarted all of the BE services. It didn't change anything. Can anyone offer other help?

Hi Redhale, Tried using

Hi Redhale,

Tried using BEutility to do a database repair to see if that doesn't solve it?
Are those drives actively showing up in Disk Management under Device Manager?

Craig, the disks do show up

Craig, the disks do show up in Disk Management. I have no problems browsing the contents of the disks. I haven't tried the BEutility. I will give it a try as soon as I find it. Is it usually installed with the BE program?

Hi Yes it is. Cannot remember

Hi

Yes it is. Cannot remember off the top of my head what the location is, but it should be in the same installation directory as Backup Exec's *.exe.
You can search for: beutility.exe.

I found it and ran it. I

I found it and ran it. I clicked All Media Server and found our server. When I go down to Database Tasks, all are grayed out. None of them are available. Do you know why that would be?
