This issue has been solved. See solution.

How can I find out if our clients are receiving updates from the specified GUP or if the clients are still receiving updates from the SEPM?

Are there any logs or any configs I can go to and find this out?

How do I know my workstations

How do I know my workstations are connected to the GUP?

A. You can determine if a SEP11 is retrieving updates from a GUP by completing the following instructions:

    1. Open SEP11.
    2. Select view logs on the left.
    3. Select view logs under Client Management.
    4. Select system log.
    5. Look for an entry similar to “Start using Group Update Provider (proxy server) @ XXX.XXX.XXX:2967

Info

I don't always see these entries for some reason. =/

Alternatively you can check the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\LiveUpdate\UseMasterClient

This should be populated with "1" if it is using a GUP.

You will also see a few "MasterClient..." entries in there with the settings to use.

GUP content distribution monitor

Try out the GUP monitor, which will give you visibility of all GUP's, their content revisions and any SEP clients that are out of date.
