Hello all,

I'm having an issue adding software to the software library in Altiris 7.1.  When I go to the Import Software and click the ADD button I receive an error:

"Missing required Permissions manifest attrirbute in main jar:"

I don't even have the option to select a package.  This was working for me in the past but not something we use often.  Any suggestions on resolveing this issue.  Thanks for the help.

jar files are, I believe, JAVA files, meaning you probably ran an upgrade or removal of Java, which we use when "browsing" for files.  It's a JAVA aplet for all file | open dialogs that access the file system.

Check your JAVA settings or installation or maybe repair it or...  something.

it's a starting point anyway,...

This is the result of the Symantec JAR files not meeting the minimum requirements set by Oracle for the latest version of JRE.  You have two options to remedy this:  1) Add the URL for your SMP to the trusted list within your JRE on the machine where you have this problem or 2) Reduce the security setting on the JRE client from high to medium.

Both options can be found under control panel, Java, Security tab.  For option 1 (recommended), click the Edit site list, Click Add and type the url of your SMP.  For option 2, move the slider to medium (not recommended).

i know for me Java pops up a window stating allow or block... maybe in control panel / java you can find a setting in there...
