Endpoint Protection

Hi

i am using SEPM 11.0.6 on server 2003. my SEPM was working fine until yesterday my machine restarted (reason power outage). now i am starting the console and i m getting this error "could not find the main class com.sygate.scm.console.console main program will exit". i did some research and find this article and in it

1. Click on "Start", then go to "Run" and type in "services.msc".

ok i did it.

2. This will open up the services console.  Navigate to the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" service.  Right-click on it and stop the service. 

Service was already stopped. r started it thn started sepm but get the same error and service again stoped.

3. Navigate to the "Symantec Embedded Database" service, right-click on it and restart the service.  (Sometimes the service does not restart.  In this case try to stop the process (dbsrv9.exe) in "Task Manager", which will automatically restart the service for the Embedded Database.  That way you can avoid having to restart the server.

no such task is running in task manager

4. Start the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" service by right-clicking on it from the services console.

5. Open the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" console and it will allow us to login.

If the above mentioned steps do not work please restart the system.

Note:  for SEP 12.1, try to stop the dbsrv11.exe process.

in event viewr following error is also reporting event ID 4096

"The Java Virtual Machine has exited with a code of 2, the service is being stopped."

any idea guys?

Got to control pannel remove all versions of java then intall correct java as per this link

do a repair symantec endpoint manager

,it will fix the issue.

Solution

1.Clieck on "start" then go to "Run" and type in "services.msc".

2. It will open up services console, Navigate to "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service", Right click on it and stop it. 

3.Navigate to "Symantec Embedded database service" and right-click on it and restart the service.(Sometimes the service goes in stopping mode, Then try and stop the process (dbsrv9.exe) and in SEPM 12.1 (dbsrv11.exe) from "Task Manager" which will automatically restart the service for the Embedded database. This can avoid restarting of the server.

4. Start the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service" service by right clicking on it from the services console.

5.Try opening  "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" Console and it will open up and will allow us to login.

Stop the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager services

Kill all instances of javaw in task manager .

Follow the steps below to fix the java files.

1. Browse to <%SEPM installation folder%>\tomcat\webapps\ROOT\clientpkg
2. Install Jre using the Jre installer present in the folder .   eg. jre-6u26-windows-i586.exe
3. Navigate to %program files%\Java\jre6
4. Copy the bin and lib folder
5. Paste it in the folder  <%SEPM installation folder%>\jre
6. Overwrite all files when the prompt appears
7. Run Management Configuration Wizard once the files have been copied

I would suggest you to follow the steps provided below:

1) Go to Add & Remove programs and Run a Repair of SEPM.

2) Adjust after ODBC ( with database name -e.g. sem5)

Incase, you are adjusting ODBC didn't resolve the issue. Perform a DR to resolve the issue.
