Created: 30 Jan 2013 • Updated: 30 Jan 2013 | 6 comments

We are running windows 8 and Symantec Endpoint for Small Business 2012 and we are receiving this message.  Does this mean that it is not compatible?  How can this be fixed?

Thanks.

SEP 12.1.2 is the first supported version for Windows 8. Make sure you're on this version.

System Requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection, Enterprise and Small Business Editions, and Network Access Control 12.1.2

Windows 8 is supported from SEP SBE 12.1 RU2:

...if you are using any prior version to that, please upgrade. Not sure what you mean under SEP SBE 2012.

Hi, thank you.. I thought I was using the correct version, however, it stopped at 12.1.. the rest of the numbers weren't visible.  I do have the version 12.1.2.. I will use that version.

The issue will be trying to get the old version uninstalled.  It seems to keep crashing.  Is there another way to remove the old version?

Call support to get cleanwipe. Check here:

If you can uninstall it without issues go ahead, but in order to be sure that none registry entries of any system files from the old version are being left on the machine - use the cleanwipe tool - it will clean the old installation completely.
