I've got a number of older tapes that I'm worried about doing restores from.  Is there a way to move the backups off of them and onto physical drives?  Thanks.

The easiest way is to run a redirected restore from tape.

In your restore wizard, select the option to redirect the files to a folder on your media server/another server, and then run the job.

If you have Exchange in there, you'd need to duplicate your Exchange to get the files, and you can do that via my article below:

I've done redirected restores, but I was hoping to not have to restore and then back it up again.  I just need my backups off the tape and onto hard drives.

You can duplicate your tape backups to your disks and the disk backups will be exact copies of your tape backups.  You can restore from these disk backups as if they are on tape.

Hi Eraliving,

Duplicate your backups from tapes to disks. Check the below links, it's explained with screenshots.

For Backup Exec 2010 R3 and earlier:

How to configure Duplicate Backup Jobs in Backup Exec.

As you have already backed up the data to a tape and now trying to move it to the disk. Follow the option mentioned in Figure 2 (Duplicate existing Backup Sets) of the above article.

For Backup Exec 2012:
