Recovery of previous backup exec server

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I Have a problem I hope someone can help me with.  Back in March I took advantage of the trial version of backup exec, and used it to backup 4 servers for about 2 weeks. I backed up yhe servers to a NAS share, and after the 2 weeks had some issues I was unable to resolve and switched backup methods.  I unistalled the backup exec server but left the NAS share in tact.

Now I am in need of some files that were probably backed up back in march, I have downloaded a new instance of the trial server version, attached the NAS share and ran an inventory job.  I have not installed the client software on the server in which I wish to restore files, but I dont really need to restore the files to that particular server, any location would be fine.  After running the inventory job I see no backup jobs to recover from that share, with my limited use of the software I assume I have more steps to take but am not really sure what to do from here.

After running inventory you need to run a catalog job on the B2D folder.

Once catalog job completes successfully you may open Restore window and perform a redirect

restore of the desired files.

B2D folder? I right clicked on the NAS share, ran the inventory and catalog job, is this what you are refering too?

Yes. B2D is Backup 2 Disk folder which is hosted on the NAS.

...did you add the B2D folder back into BE first?

Yes, I installed the backup exec server, added the B2D folder, then right clicked on the B2D folder and ran the combined "inventory and catalog job" but I do not have any jobs to restore.

check the date range in the restore window.

OK cool...and you can see the *.bkf files in your B2D? If this is the case, what happens if you change the date in the restore tab to reflect the date you want to restore from specifically?

Thanks!

Yes I can see the .bkf files in the B2d folder.  I have not tried changing the date, maybe that is the key.  Once I head back to work this morning I will give that a shot.

When I got back to work this morning, the recovery jobs where there, guess it just took several hours to compile everything.
