All,

We would like to announce the availability of Recovery Solution for Clients 7.1 that shipped on August 1, 2011.

Feature Highlights
–SMP 7.1 (64-bit+SQL 2008+IE8) support for RS Solution
–2008 R2 64-bit support for RS Server (emulation)
–Win 7 64-bit support for RS Server (emulation)
–SQL 2008 support for RS Server
-Inclusion of existing 7.0 SP1 hotfixes
–Win 7 SP1 support

You can find the Release Notes (including 6.x and 7.0 migration instructions) here - http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC4396

We also have a pointfix posted for RS 7.1:
Recovery Solution 7.1.3919 - WBFR not correctly restores folder which name has at least two spaces, for example “My favorite folder”
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH165934

It is important to note that Recovery Solution is officially in the End of Life status (http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO21450). This update is intended for existing RS customers only. Existing customers must be current on their RS Maintenance (no longer part of CMS or ITMS 7.x Maintenance) and can purchase incremental RS nodes if needed. At the same we encourage customers to start looking at Symantec System Recovery (SSR) or NetBackup Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) products for the migration path.

Best regards,
Symantec RS Team

How to upgrade?

I'm running v7.0.3454 of the Recovery Solution.  I launched the Symantec Installation Manager and it doesn't show any updates for the Recovery Solution.  I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is how I've upgraded in the past.

You can not simply upgrade

You can not simply upgrade from Recovery Solution 7.0 SP1 to Recovery Solution 7.1. Recovery Solution 7.1 must be installed on a Symantec Management Platform 7.1 environment. With the release of 7.1 the SMP environment now requires the use of Windows 2008 R2 64 bit.

If you wish to start using the 7.1 products you will need to setup a new server meeting the requirements for 7.1 and perform a migration.

You can find more information about Symantec Management Platform 7.1 here
